Blobs and zits
Small raised dots or lumps scattered on walls, or lined up in a vertical seam, sometimes with a matching small dent next to them.
Clogged nozzle
Extrusion that thins out, curls sideways or stops entirely, often with a clicking extruder and a print that ends in air with missing layers.
Elephant foot
A flared lip around the base of the part, usually the first 0.5 to 1 mm, sticking out past the straight walls above.
Ghosting (ringing)
Wavy ripples or duplicated outlines next to corners, letters and holes on walls, fading out as they get further from the feature.
Layer separation
Horizontal cracks or gaps between layers, often on taller sections or corners, and parts that snap cleanly along a layer line.
Layer shifting
A clean horizontal step where everything above a certain layer is displaced left, right, forward or back, like a stack of misaligned cards.
Over-extrusion
Bulging, lumpy walls, rough or ridged top surfaces, oversized dimensions, and holes that come out too small or closed up.
Poor bed adhesion
Lines that drag around or ball up on the first layer, parts that pop loose mid-print, or a tangled mass of filament instead of a part.
Stringing
Fine hair-like threads or cobwebs spanning gaps between towers or features, sometimes with small blobs where strands start or end.
Under-extrusion
Thin or broken lines, visible gaps between perimeters, holes in top surfaces, and spongy infill that can be pressed or torn easily.
Warping
The bottom edges, especially sharp corners, lift off the bed, leaving a curved underside and sometimes cracks or a bowed shape further up.
Z banding
Evenly spaced horizontal stripes or ribs on vertical walls, catching light differently, often repeating every few millimeters up the part.
