About

3dprints.tools is an independent set of free calculators and reference pages for people who use FDM and resin 3D printers: hobbyists, makers who sell prints, small print farms, and students.

Why it exists

Most 3D printing questions come down to a few numbers. What does this print cost? How much filament is left on the spool? Why is my wall thicker than the slicer says? The answers are scattered across forum threads, spreadsheets and data sheets. This site puts the math in one place, shows the formula behind every result, and explains how to measure the inputs properly.

How the content is checked

  • Calculators use standard formulas that are written out on each page, so you can check them yourself.
  • Filament settings are summarised from each manufacturer's published data sheet or product page. Ranges change, so the label on your spool always wins.
  • Print doctor guides are written from hands-on printing experience and list fixes from cheapest and fastest to most involved.

If you spot a mistake, please tell us and it will be corrected.

How the site is funded

The tools are free. The site is supported by advertising, which is always labelled "Advertisement" and kept apart from calculator controls. Advertisers have no say in the content.
